Have you ever seen someone’s talent and it simply made chills go down your spine? Folks, I basically had tea with a modern Beatrix Potter the other day! Carter Stuart is an illustrator and portraiture artist. More than that, she’s a woman of impeccable character and vivacious imagination. It wasn’t long before I was introduced to her friends – Higgins, Millie, & Odis. They’re penguins, of course. And like most penguins do, they have personalities and happenings that bring a smile to your face upon your first hullo. Something within me came alive as I looked about her sketchbook. Because in it…in it is pure gold & laughter.
And so the afternoon passed and the shadows became longer. The tea had been sipped up and gone. And while spring is on the cusp of bursting through, I think Carter is too. She’s onto something great and perhaps, I’ll have the opportunity to bring that journey to you again sometime. For now, today is just a nod & hullo at a fellow artist who is, quite simply, inspirational. Watch for her in the future…
“Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits and their names were – Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail & Peter.” – Peter Rabbit, by Beatrix Potter
And because it fun to know & may prove inspirational to this dear friend of mine, what were YOUR favorite childhood books? – Share with me in the comments!
Always,
–Tara M.
