It all began at the mention of a proposal in Paris and then a trip to Barcelona.
Their Irish wedding idea & Italian family roots.
And something about law school & cheering for the Washington DC Nats.
Need I admit that I was on the edge of my seat to meet these two?
If I were to capture the essence of what a Pattengale Couple looks like, it would be found in Adrienne & Mike. They value history & architecture and the power of a good story. Traveling and finding local food dives for brunch is in their blood. And naturally, they possess that touch of whimsical romance any script writer would envy.
“We have a collection of emails and letters from the four years we dated. We call them, The Chronicles. When Mike proposed to me in that romantic drizzle of Paris rain, in front of the Eiffel Tower, he wrote a final Chronicle for me to read. That is, final to our dating relationship. Because he was asking me to new beginnings of writing Chronicles with him for the rest of our lives…”
“I used to walk past this street everyday on my way to work. I’d often see a couple standing there, lost in the moment, as the sun came through. And as I walked past those couples & photographers day in and day out, I remember thinking, “One day I want that, too.”
The more we lingered in these streets and alleyways, the more Mike & Adrienne shared their loves, quirks, and favorite walks.
He unashamedly watches the Bachelorette and sports, sometimes in the same weekend.
She divulges in pumpkin spice lattes as soon as they come out & Anthropologie is basically her second home.
Oh and yoga, barre, and orange classes (especially near the waterfront) are also parts of normal life together.
No big deal.
Did I mention that the Washington Nats just picked up Daniel Murphy this year…and that Murphy is Adrienne’s maiden name? Obviously Mike had to be on Team Murph.
can’t. even. handle. it.
What a guy.
And what a way to end the evening…
Adrienne & Mike, spending the evening with you two last week was a highlight of my summer. Thank you for trusting me with your story – the romantic and every-day-life-hilarity sides of each of you. Your wedding is going to be a dream, I can’t wait! Love you both!
If you thought their story was as perfect and adorable as I did, leave some love for them in the comments!
Always,
–Tara M.
