I get this question often.
“But Tara, what do you wear to shoot in?”
“What does your everyday style actually look like?”
And I can’t help but smile.
Because guys, I’m just a girl who puts clothes on her body.
Like, one leg at a time – just like you.
And to be honest, I’ve been on the struggle bus in deciding what to wear to sessions, to weddings, and then for just plain life & scouting out locations for future sessions.
So today, Weekend Wear goes behind the scenes at the latter activity: scouting.
Also read: With the weather is on the struggle bus too, it’s made fashion a BIT challenging.
I mean, how the heck do you dress when:
You’re in the forest.
Read: bugs, tall grass, and all manner of other things.
You’re a photographer.
Read: You need to be flexible enough to get the shot.
So be it if that means climbing a rock, standing in tall grasses, or whatever else may be necessary.
The sun is saying HULLO.
Read: It’s 105 degrees + 59% humidity.
Perspectives:
1) The sweat is inevitable.
2) Bug spray is my new best accessory.
3) And this is what dreams & adventures are made of, right?!
So I just put a smile on this face and trust it will be worth it. 😉
But also, fun (breathable cotton) crop tops & good shoes are helpful too.
Thoughts & Style Edits…
Thought: I try to use accessories that don’t cause extra heat, but help with making my overall look feel more intentional. For me that often looks like a loose belt, earrings, and a watch.
Edit: The hat is helpful for bugs from trees, but it did trap heat. Next time, I’d put my hair in a ponytail so that it wasn’t pressed against my neck. #liveandlearn
Edit: My extra ring (right hand) = cute. But bad choice for hot, swelled hands. Oops.
But here’s the honest truth that makes all the sweat worth it:
I love what I do.
I love hiking and exploring new areas.
I love interacting with clients and capturing their romance
and all those sun drenched kisses.
It’s as though the ruggedness of nature compliments, and even seals, the rawness of human emotion. And at the end of the day, that’s what I’m after.
