Am I the only one ready for fall to begin? I’ve had a great summer – went to the beach, went to the mountains, and had plenty of grilled dinners. Now I’m ready for lattes, crunchy leaves, and bonfires. And yet, cooler weather is probably a ways off for us here in Richmond. September is right around the corner but we can’t get our scarves out. So today, I’m satisfying my autumn yearnings by infusing those fall colors into my summer style. This look comes to you from my travels to Indiana and is quite simply, uncomplicated…

Why it works: It probably goes without saying, but keeping pieces within the same “tone-family” works well for easy pairing. Sometimes wearing jean shorts and a tank just doesn’t cut it when meeting with clients or going to that backyard meetup with friends. So I love finding those lightweight third-pieces to take it up a notch.
I added a watch and that’s it. I mean, let’s be real, when it’s 95 degrees outside I’m lucky if my hair stays down let alone having hot and clunky jewelry around my neck. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the feeling of metal burning into my skin or sticking where it shouldn’t. Also, make-up goes to a minimum during the summer months. I prefer that, “fair & natural” look (notice I did not say “sun kissed” as I’ve seemed to fail in that department this year).
I hope you’re okay that today is a more short and sweet post than normal. But essentially, summer wear is simple. I love the mix and matching that can happen with tanks & shorts. As we near the end of “summertime,” what have some of your go-to pieces been?
