WEEKEND WEAR : Is Your Brain Feeling Naked?

So here’s the deal.
I go through phases that some, I’m proud to own and others…
well, I know I need to do better.

But I’m thinking this one is here to stay. And that is: learning & expanding.

I’ve been considering adding in a few self-worth, tips & tricks, and current obsessions type of content into this fun, weekend wear series. Would you be game for that?

Call it a millennial thing.
Call it me realizing just how important this life-lived-fully-alive concept is.
Call it me wanting to change things up for a bit and I need to know, would this be helpful for you too?

A few weeks back, I wrote about perspective and Why You’re Worth It (click HERE if you missed it). But, let me explain what I mean here, today.

I’ll phrase it two ways:

For the chill readers:
Are you being kind to your brain?

For the boo-i’ma-preachin readers:
Own your ish. Is your brain naked?

Do either of these sound familiar?
You’re either at 1) a job that has gotten a bit tedious – maybe you’re feeling underpaid or undervalued – with summer fun on your mind and now all you do is live for the weekends or
2) you’re at your computer all day because you’re a girl boss who is tryin to learn this whole girl boss thing and if your email inbox dings one more time you miiiight lose your marbles.

The Hard Truth: Life is never going to “slow down.”

There will always be opportunity for,
“let me just get through this one launch,”
“let me just check off at least 3 things on the To-Do list and then I can,”
and on and on.

But, what happens to our brain when we’re like this? Am I even happy? Is this even “successful” living?

Someone once told me, “If you aren’t moving forward, you’re sliding backwards. There is no neutral zone.”

Look, I’m on a budget too.
But are you being such a cheap scape that you’re refusing to invest in yourself appropriately?

  • Do you need to buy that app that you know will make your workflow more efficient?
  • Do you just, quite simply, need a good book?
  • Do you need that sparkling lemonade from Trader Joe’s (guys, it’s only $2.99!)?
  • Do you just need to chop your hair off (and donate it)?

All of the above: I’m putting them into practice.

And just like that, my brain is so happy my energy levels – my feelings of I AM A FREAKING GIRL BOSS – have dramatically improved. Like, I can’t even tell you. Perspective, guys.

So here’s me saying,
HEY! I see you. But you seriously need to stop leaving your brain naked.
Commit to growing.

We all know this, but it bears repeating:
You can’t buy happiness. Sometimes life really does throw you something you don’t know how to handle and those are valid moments. It means you’re human.

But, today’s point is this: are there things that you KNOW would be helpful and you’re just ignoring them?  No one cares as much as you think they do. So do what you need to do.

Tell me your thoughts in the comments & enjoy this extended weekend, friends!

Always,
–Tara M.
