WEEKEND WEAR : On the Go

I think a lot of us answer the “how are you?” question with a concise “…good. busy.” response. And this week, it’s been about all I can do to remember what day it is. I thought Monday was Friday and today was both Saturday and Tuesday (within the same hour and same conversation). Perhaps my coffee hasn’t kicked in yet. OR! There’s just so many people coming into town for a wedding (and I want to hang out with them all) and random logistics to figure out in the midst of it that I’m all mixed up. I’d say the latter is a bit more accurate. Everything is oh so happy, but busy.

And for me, taking time to slow down and enjoy a cuppa with my parents (who are visiting RVA!!) at Lamplighter Coffee is more important than anything else going on. The fall leaves swirl around the streets. The pour overs and harvest lattes are hot and strong. And the laughter that ensues when circles converge and separate friend groups become one in the same is unbeatable. This is what life looks like. And, friends, I’m soaking up as much of it as I can!

So, when you’re on the go, there isn’t much time for fuss over what to wear. My yesterday looked like airport runs, coffee stops, and a bachelorette brunch and a manicure appointment. I needed something cute and dressy. But also a style that I could wear comfortable shoes with (for hullo downtown exploring)…

The Look: Remember this skirt from the grafitti falls shoot? Yesterday it took a more feminine approach – dressy enough for pre-wedding celebrations and casual enough for coffee dates. I paired a loose, batwing sweater (tucked in) and a gold/pearl necklace with it. Originally, I brought skinnies to change into for a mix it up look. Had time allowed (the day just flew by), I could have still tuck the sweater into the skinnies or allowed it to hang loosely. Mixing up lipstick tones or throwing your hair in a quick pony tail, for example, are also fun options to play with.

Behind the Scenes Activities…

I know today’s post is shorter than usual, but it’s accurate and “real time” with my weekend activities. And really, this is the essence of “Weekend Wear” – style for any weekend to-do’s that is versatile and practical. I’m off to grocery shopping, a photoshoot with out of town friends, and a wedding rehearsal later this evening. What does your weekend hold?
